The Weeknd-Thursday

There's no secret that I love The Weeknd, and for good reason. His last mixtape, House of Balloons was exceptionally good, and I can't wait to listen to it. Working on finding a good download link, but you can get it from The Weeknd's website here.

Pusha T feat. Kanye and Jeezy-Amen

A little late on this release, but from Pusha T's highly anticipated Fear of God 2: Let Us Pray comes Amen. To be honest, I'm not too crazy about this release, especially after I found out it's sorta a repackaging of a Jeezy song. But hey, I'm just one guy, download with the link below and see what you think. Download link below, you know what to do.

Acapulco Gold Elephant Print Tie

The guys at Acapulco Gold treat us to another one of their more dapper releases with this insanely cool tie. Taking the elephant print from the popular Jordan 3 sneaker and a striped pattern turned out to be quite the fusion. I actually ran into Geoff Heath, one of the founders of AG and he was telling me about the tie. To be honest, I thought they were just doing to take the grey on black elephant print and call it a day, but of course they had more up their sleeve. This fall, get ready to shell out for this tie, cause I have a feeling they won't be around for long.

Check out the other color after the jump.

New Mishka Varsity Jackets

The Death Adders are at it again. For the upcoming fall season, Brooklyn natives Mishka will be releasing some new varsity jackets. The jackets some in two different styles, the "Death Adder" varsity and the famous Mishka "Keep Watch" eyeball on a nylon coach jacket. They look pretty dope to me, but I prefer the ones from a few years back.

More pictures and views after the jump.

UNIQLO USA Expansion

Japanese fashion company UNIQLO will be expanding it's American presence come the fall by opening two massive stores in the NYC area. The first store will be located on the iconic fashion stop, 5th Avenue. The store will be a reported 2.5 times larger than the flagship location in SoHo. The second store, located on 34th Street, a slightly smaller location, but it'll be busy nonetheless. Did I do this little spot because I work for UNIQLO? Of course not, that would be wrong.

Kobe to China?

Due to the NBA lockout, there has been a rumor going around the internet that Kobe Bryant may try to sign with the Shanxi team in China. No one really knows how long this lockout will go on for, and personally I think it's just rich people arguing that they wont have enough money to take their families to another dimension come the 2011-2012 season. The Black Mamba may very well end up being known as 黑眼镜蛇. And nobody wants that

**UPDATE**
It looks like our friends debt owners from the east aren't looking to whore themselves out for any NBA player currently under contract with the NBA. Reports from NBA PM say that the CBA will not lease out any contracts to any player in a contract, and any free agent would have to stay the length of the contract regardless if the lockout is resolved.

The Loot: EPisodes

Out today is the new EP from New York based band The Loot. A mixture of hip-hop and jazz, The Loot bring a rather unique sound that we at Enigma appreciate. In the band is actually a friend of mine, Danny Rose, who contacted me about designing their logo, which you can check out on the album cover. Click the link to download the EP, you won't be disappointed.

The Hangover Part Ehhh

To say I was hype for this movie is an understatement and I must say I was......disappointed. I knew the movie would be a little ridiculous because like come on getting into the same situation AGAIN. But, what I did not expect was for them not to stray away from the original at all. In this sequel Stu (Ed Helms) is getting married to Lauren (Jamie Chung) whose father is not very fond of Stu kinda like how Melissa, his girlfriend in the first one, was not very fond of him. The wolfpack is back and they decide to have one little harmless drink before they call it a night and this is where the madness begins. They wake up not knowing wtf happened last night with Teddie (Mason Lee) Lauren's brother is missing. They also wake up to find a monkey and Leslie Chow (Ken Jeong). From here they're on a mission to piece together what happened last night so they can find Teddie before its too late. I will admit there are some pretty big laughs in this one but this one is not the original. The original was so quotable and different. This movie is a carbon copy of the orginal and I really don't get why it was made. The characters really don't go anywhere! Alan (Zach Galifianakis) is more retarded in this one than the last one, I think its a good thing since he does provide us with most of the laughs in the movie but Stu who you thought became a man at the end of the first one is getting bitched by his father in law! Another thing is they amped up Leslie Chow's role, who I thought should't have been in the movie because a lot of what happened in the first one was funny because of the wow and fun new characters. This one just tries to make bank on the first one. The new characters in this movie also blow. For example: Paul Giamatti's character who I was kind of hype for was not funny at all and they found a way to get Eddie from the first one to play a different character in this one. What happens is also very predictable since it follows the same exact formula the first one went by. So, you do not get the same surprise the first one had. I think this movie gets a lot of laughs since people eat raunchy comedies up and I do too, but, considering how amazing the first one was, this movie is shit. Do not see this movie if you value the first ones memory.

R.I.P. Macho Man Randy Savage

R.I.P. You will be missed

Tom Hardy Will Break You

Today, the first official image of Tom Hardy (Inception, Bronson) as Bane in Christopher Nolan's third installment in the Batman franchise, the Dark Knight Rises, dropped. I must say he looks fucking sick. I really did not know what to expect since Bane is larger than life character in the comics and I just did not know how he would look or fit in Christopher Nolan's dipped in reality Batman universe. But, after taking a gander at this photo, I am literally counting the seconds till July 20th 2012. From the cast announcements to the locations, I think this will probably be the biggest superhero movie every, fuck an Avengers. It is hard to top what was done in the Dark Knight and to find a villain as iconic as Heath Ledger's Joker but I think Chris Nolan accepted that challenge and is looking to wow audiences once again. July 20th kiddies, remember the date.

Fuck Bill O' Reilly!

So, I copped Tyler, The Creator's sophomore outing "Goblin" this morning before I went off to the hell that is Kingsborough Community College. And, I must say....This shit is the BOMB! You know I liked his first album "Bastard" but I fucking love "Goblin." I have been bumping it all day. He kicks off this epic with the dopest album intro since Raekwon's Striving For Perfection on that "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx." The production on this album is fucking ridiculous. All the tracks are fucking dope but there is one song I was not feeling too much which is "Untitled 63" but outside of that this album is GOLD. You are probably asking yourself "why is Chris writing the most general review ever?" Well, its because I want you to go out and listen to this for yourself. Be sure to listen to it from beginning to end, this album plays out like a movie. So, to get the real experience, listen to the whole thing.

I Do It- Big Sean

I can't find a good video with the track, this is the best I can do. I just wanted to let you gyus know this single dropped today on Itunes and you should definitely check it out! Big Sean always delivers and this beat caters to his unique flow and listen in for some dope punch lines and references. You know how the west side repper does it.. B..I...G.

The Fast and The Ridiculously Awesome

The fifth installment of the "Fast" franchise is by far the best entry in the series. I am gonna be honest, I walked into this movie thinking it would suck ass because I just hate how the franchise has drifted so far away from what made the original such a classic. That being said, I don't know what the fuck I was thinking. This movie plays out like an 80s action movie, they just said "fuck development, where da C4 at?" And I love that approach. The movie picks off right where the last one ended with Brian (Paul Walker) and Mia (Jordana Brewster) breaking Dom (Vin Diesel) out of jail. Fast Forward a couple months, with these guys on the most wanted list and with their backs against the wall they take a shady job in Brazil and when all hell breaks loose 3 DEA agents are killed and they are pinned on them. This does not sit with The US of A, they send in there best hunter Hobbs (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson). But, Hobbs is the least of the crews problems they got a Rio Drug kingpin on there ass after the job that went sour. Now, with there backs against the wall AGAIN the guys decide to call in some old friends (Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Sung Kang, Gal Godot, Tego Calderon, and Don Omar) to pull one last job and disappear forever. This movie is super fucking hardcore. There is literally a 2 minute intermission between every action sequence. Again, I thought it being ridiculous would be its biggest fault, but boy, was I wrong. Hobbs is by far the best character in this movie like come on, its The Rock. He is a man on a mission and FUCK is this guy built. Hobbs is so badass he doesn't own any shirts, he just has under armour's which he even wears while doing paper work. I was hoping to see a Rock Bottom but that is literally my only complaint. The fight between Dom and Hobbs is worth the price of admission itself. In conclusion, I would like to say this is definitely the right way to kick off the summer of 2011 and if your looking for something to watch cough up the 12.50 to see this flick. I will see you guys this weekend when I finally get my eyeballs around Thor.

First Class

So, a new poster and trailer for X-Men First Class debuted. I just wanted to let everyone know that out of all the movies that come out this summer, this is the one that is most important to me. With the last two awful mutant films, I think its time for the property that started this comic book film trend to get back on top, where it belongs. A lot of people really don't like where this movie is going especially with all the bad posters they have been releasing and rumors of Matthew Vaughn not liking what he sees BUT I want to actually give this movie a chance. I like the whole 60s Cuban Missile Crisis plot device and the fact that Vaughn is going for a "James Bond" feel. I am a big fan of the X-Men series and just love the relationship between Xavier and Erik. I love that they are really trying to dig deeper and show us how Xavier and Erik's relationship went sour. So, this is just me saying I really hope that all this movie comes together, the world needs a good X-Men film. The movie drops June 3rd and until then I will be praying for my mutant brothers.

In Brightest Day...

This Green Lantern movie is looking doper and doper. I was really not feeling the first photo and don't get me started on the first trailer. But, it looks like Warner is righting their wrongs in the past couple of weeks. I am hoping this movie is lives up to my queer fanboy expectations. The movie drops June 17th in both 2D and 3D.

Mr. Jeffries

I am a day late BUT this would've been a cursed filled post if I made it last night. So, I just wanted you guys to know that Jared Jeffries birth is pay back for the sins of man, every time he goes up for a lay up an angel dies, that is all!

Zero Heroes

X to the V dropped his Zero Heroes mixtape today and I am gassed! I am a pretty big XV fan, he drops nothing but heat and he's a nerd like myself. I recently got into him after hearing his take on Kanye West's "Bad News" track, which he destroyed by the way. I have been a huge fan of his ever since I heard that track and I am proud to point you in the direction of one of my favorite rappers. Download the mixtape if not for the music do it for the dope ass cover. You know you want that shit in your itunes, so download it   here http://hulkshare.com/3by068n04vuy

Friday Tunes

Who doesn't love The College Dropout? Well, I have grown quite fond of this album recently (Yes, I'm Late) I thought I would throw you guys into the Dolorean and gun it to '04. So, check out some of my personal faves off the classic album.

Damn, Mortal Kombat Ya Done Came Up

The New York Times revealed this new photo of Baraka from the Mortal Kombat:Legacy web series which premiered its first episode Tuesday. I like the gritty tone they're going for and the fight choreography in the first episode and in the footage shown in the trailer is AMAZING! Hopefully they keep up the good work and a movie gets green lit in the near future. Mortal Kombat was huge in my childhood and it is great to see it reborn and have this new swag to it. Lets pray that the web series and new game dropping April 19th lives up to its potential. Enough of me sucking MK off, be sure to check out Episode 1 of "Mortal Kombat:Legacy" below.

Taylor Lautner Action Star?

So, the trailer for Taylor Lautner's new film "Abduction" directed by John Singleton. From the trailer it looks like a teenage Bourne film. Which I think is kinda cool but I cannot get over them trying to make Taylor Lautner into this super bad ass. I don't mind him being the star of this film but in the poster he has like the bitchiest 5 o clock shadow I've ever seen. But, I think this movie has potential because I am a sucker for spy films. So check out the trailer and see if Taylor is one step closer to erasing Jacob from his resume.

RISE!

Check out the first trailer to Fox's "Rise of The Planet of The Apes" It stars James Franco and the effects are done by the same guys who brought you the Na'Vi in "Avatar". I always liked the concept of the Planet of The Apes movies (I try to forget the Mark Walhberg one). This trailer did look interesting because of how real the apes look. I am a huge fan of James Franco and love how he done came up from being Harry Osborn to being a superstar. So, check this trailer out. The movie is coming out August 5th and hopefully it lives up to its potential.

Sheen, Winning

It was only a matter of a time until Lil B made a Charlie Sheen song. I am a HUGE Lil B fan because of his "I don't give a fuck what the haters say" attitude. Another reason I am a huge fan is because I love hood rat shit so if you loved I'm Paris Hilton, I'm Miley Cyrus, Mel Gibson etc. like I did, you're gonna love "Charlie Sheen".

PRESS PLAY!

Kneel Before Michael Shannon

"Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today that Michael Shannon will star in the role of General Zod in director Zack Snyder's new Superman film, titled Man of Steel.

Snyder stated, "Zod is not only one of Superman's most formidable enemies, but one of the most significant because he has insights into Superman that others don't. Michael is a powerful actor who can project both the intelligence and the malice of the character, making him perfect for the role."

As General Zod, Shannon will go toe-to-toe with Henry Cavill, who plays the new Clark Kent/Superman in the film. The main cast also includes Amy Adams as Lois Lane, and Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Martha and Jonathan Kent.

Michael Shannon was honored with an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Sam Mendes' Revolutionary Road, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Shannon was most recently seen in the award-winning HBO drama series "Boardwalk Empire," from executive producer Martin Scorsese.

He will next be seen in Sony Pictures Classics' Take Shelter from director/writer Jeff Nichols.

Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder are the producers of the film. The screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer based on a story by Goyer and Nolan. Thomas Tull and Lloyd Phillips are serving as executive producers.

Man of Steel will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company."- Legendary   Pictures

Michael Shannon isn't my dream General Zod. But, I can see why he was cast as the iconic character. I am not gonna say I've seen all of his movies or am his biggest fan. However, the work of his I have seen are pretty good. And I think he can give the character humanity while still being stern and ruthless. Another thing, he has a creepy voice which i think will do wonders for the character Hahaha. Hopefully we will see more casting news for the Man Of Steel sooner than later. I am counting the days till this movie is released. I really feel this movie is gonna be fantastic and change the superhero genre like  "The Dark Knight" did.

All Praise To The Swanson

All hell has broken loose in Washington and the Federal Government is gonna shut down today.I do not know if you know that Enigma Designs fucks with the funniest man on the tele today, Ronald Swanson. If you do not fucks with Parks and Recreations all you need to know is Ronald Swanson loves Eggs, bacon, and women. He hates Government and his two bitch ex wives Tammy and Tammy. The reason I say this is because with everyone panicking about the government shutting down, I am just chilling bout to light a Cuban with the happiest man in the universe....Ron Fucking Swanson.

Friday Tunes

A Lil something to chill too.

Deadpool Has A Director And I Have An Erection

So, The Merc With A Mouth has finally found his director and his name is.......Tim Miller?!?!? I don't know much about this guy besides what I read from the LA Times article. But, I am still super hype about this news because we are on step closer to seeing the funniest comic book character ever in his solo film. I would have been happy if they announced a raccoon was directing this. With Ryan Reynolds becoming a superstar his schedule is tighter than an Asian 3rd grader. So, his time is precious. Hopefully this means the movie will be fast tracked and we will be able to see this movie because Warner Bros. is trying to lock this guy down for Green Lantern 2 and the first one has not even come out. I really do hope this movie gets made, so we can forget "Weapon XI" -_____-. You can check out the LA Times article here http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/movies/2011/04/deadpool-director-rodriguez-tim-miller-marvel.html

Now This is a Trailer

So, I have finally gotten around to blogging. This is a week old trailer but I think you need to read Enigma Designs thoughts on the latest Green Lantern footage. There was a lot shit talking about this movie because of how bad the first trailer and controversy over the CGI suit. But, the new footage screened at Wonder-Con 2011 seems to have silenced the critics.I was blown away by this trailer. The reason for this is how big this movie looks. In that first trailer it looked like Warner Bros. just made a collage of clips in the movie to try and mask how bad this movie would be. This scared the shit out of me. But, after watching this Wonder-Con, I am gassed again. This movie looks like the first Sci-Fi heavy movie in the superhero genre. I have a great feeling about this movie but I really want to hold my judgement till I watch the movie due to the fact like many of the superhero movies being released this summer, it seems as if the studio is rushing and not putting enough detail into the characters we know and love. I will probably expand on this thought after the summer where I can go on a big rant about how I hate Hollywood. But, I am going to wait and see if the summer of 2011 is worth the hoopla.

Childish Gambino- Break (All of the Lights Cover)

Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover, has dropped this new song to satiate our musical appetites. Always a fan of the Gambino, I haven't stopped listening to this since I downloaded it today. The guy can rap, he has a good voice, and he's not too shabby a producer. Check out the song, and check out his blog here.

Hypebeast Trender: Nudie Jeans Co.

As we all know, hypebeasts are the scum of the earth. These folks only wear certain clothes, act a certain way, or listen to a certain kind of music because it's "in style". So basically you're dealing with a bunch of opinionless sheep. Hypebeasts can effectively end a brands worth basically oversaturate it. One of the main reasons Enigma was made was because of hypebeasts taking all the good clothes and making them crap. Over the years, hypebeasts have moved taking style advice from RUN DMC to Kanye West. For the spring, it seems that the Swedish denim maker Nudie has fallen into their moronic sights. I personally don't have a pair of Nudies so I have no idea what the big idea is, or where this trend came from(they usually come from some celebrity) so I'm totally confused. All I know is, in a few months time, the hypebeasts will just move onto what ever someone else tells them is cool.

This is gunna be good..

Anybody been up on their hip-hop, or just not living under a rock, knows that OFWGKTA is getting all the freakin' hype right now. Rapping about whatever the hell pops up first in their twisted minds seems to be working for them quite well. (If you don't believe me Youtube their Jimmy Fallon performance) One of the random things that came to mind to Wolf Gang de facto leader Tyler, the Creator's mind, some savage bars about B.o.B, Hayley Williams, and Bruno Mars. You can listen to the song "Yonkers" by clicking the video. Some savage stuff.

Hayley, Bruno and B.o.B are all more or less pop singers, so no one really expected a response. Nottttt really. People seem to forget that even though B.o.B's subject matter isn't typical, the guy's still signed to Grand Hustle, and I think T.I. demands a certain level of thug from all his cohorts. Here's B.o.B's response, "No Future".

.....yeah. If that's the best B.o.B can do, he probably shouldn't have made it. The fact is understood that B.o.B isn't a "hardcore" rapper, and due to all his affiliations with Adidas and all those big name companies he can't just say whatever comes to his mind like...um Golf Wang Wolf Gang. But how can you compete with people who just don't care? At least he didn't just stand there and punked like Bruno Mars. He's a pussy with his Janelle Monae lookin' hair. Maybe he'll make a song called "Throwing Grenades" who knows?

-The Enigma

Watch out GoodWood...here comes North Skull

Well, on my endless search for new and cool streetwear brands and interesting stuff, I stumbled across North Skull, a jewelry brand, which, like GoodWood NYC, makes wood jewelry. The one on the left is a North Skull Jesus piece and the one on the bottom is a GoodWood Jesus piece. The idea of the Jesus piece isn't new, but the wooden craze was really popularized by GoodWood. I'm not going to lie, the fact that the North Skull piece is 3D makes it look way better than the GoodWood piece.

I dunno, I just think it sucks when you have a good idea and then some prick makes it 15 times better than you had it. Y'know, like when Nintendo came out with Wii and they were so proud and then Microsoft and Sony both came up with better versions of motion sensor gameplay.

The thing that saves GoodWood is that their prices are a lot better, but hey, you get what you pay for, right?

The PsuedoSneakerHead Chronicles: Cottonmouth AXT pumps

Now anyone that knows me knows I'm a hat guy all the way, my collection is 20+ and growing. But as a clothing fanatic I still like sneakers. For all the people that don't know, Reebok Pumps are hot. Now people hate on them cause they're not Nike, but you have to remember that Reebok was rollin' long before Nike was even thought of. Check these out.I mean they're subtly amazing. The red accents just bring out the shoe even more. Me personally, I'm a sucker for gum soles, so they were instantly a good thing in my book. The problem is, they came out March 12th, and I just found out about them two days ago :(. Looks like to Ebay for me.

Revamped Website...Again!

So this is what I have been toiling at for the last couple of weeks. I made it a little more simple cause I wasn't trying to OD on the web design. I like it. If you don't, on the website, there's a place where you can send in your annoying complaints. Will I get them? Yes. Will I do anything about them. Probably not.

Work in Progress pt. 2

We're working hard to get the blog and the website up simultaneously. The website maker that I'm using, Wix, isn't as hard to use as I thought it would be. The designing part isn't hard, it's putting content there since we um, haven't ordered the official re-launch shirts yet (our official launch was last winter, we made a short run of some demo shirts). The problem here being we're going to need to get an online shop up so that you guys can order stuff or we're funna need unlimited metro cards so we can just tote the orders around like bums. This is annoying but bear with us, and I promise you'll like the results :D

A work in progress

These are the stickers that will soon be invading NYC. It took some time (3 hours including procrastination) to cut these suckers out BY HAND. We will be selling some and tagging kindly posting on surfaces of our choosing with the rest of them. When it comes to mystery advertising like this, I like to go by the four T's statement: Tactical Takeovers Take Time
